Children's Fashion Blog: Print Mixing

How do you dress for totally erratic weather patterns? Here in New England, it's mentally winter but physically still fall or, if you want to be super optimistic, even spring. Kids' winter boots and coats have been out, and now, suddenly it's going to be almost 70 degrees around Christmas. Whoa!

As you all know, I am addicted to print mixing and creating mix and match outfits for myself and the girls. I created this look for N, my 4.5 year old. This graphic poplin shirt is my inspiration for this outfit. I love its simplicity and uniqueness.  Matched this with a woolen cropped pant to add texture and warmth (keeping the changing weather in mind). Picking shoes with this outfit was a little tricky but I chose to keep it pretty neutral. I felt like contrast shoes would have taken the attention away from the shirt. These shoes have shine, texture, are sporty, and look casual and cool with cropped pants.

This overall look is cohesive, and the shirt still keeps the limelight it rightfully deserves. Whatcha think?

Holiday Wish List for Third Eye Chic

When most people in the online world are creating 'gift guides,' I am creating 'wish lists' (for me). Speaking of being selfish and all. But, hey, most or all of these things can turn into gift guide items too. Especially #4, and I might actually order this gorgeous desk calendar for a few people in my life. They won't get it in time for Christmas but definitely in the New Year.

My gift to myself for my studio was #3. Love this gold task lamp on my desk. And I would really love #2 New York skyline ring. It would be so cool to have Manhattan wrapped around my finger ; ) And #1 is my another favorite. This is also available in a gorgeous mustard. Mustard is my favorite color but for some reason, I was really drawn to this classic black. What are some of the top items on your wish list?

1. The Fin Shoulder Bag: Popinjay
2. New York Cityscape Skyline Ring: Shapeways
3. Brass Task Lamp: Target
4. Les Femmes Desk Calendar: Rifle Paper Co.

Children's Fashion Blog: Modern and Unique girls clothing

One of the rare occasions when they both actually looked at me and smiled when I pointed the camera at them. And, mind you, no bribery involved. Definitely my lucky day.

Children's Fashion Blog: Toddler Girls Holiday Outfits

Modern day holiday outfits for the girls. These have the shine, the sparkle and everything else you need for a Nutcracker or Rockettes outing or a holiday party, and are unique and fun at the same time. These sweatshirts can be dressed up or down (with casual pants or jeans) depending on the occasion. The girls are going through a 'skirts' phase so I thought these casual yet holiday-esque outfits would be so lovely.

Children's Fall Fashion Outfits: Featuring MOTORETA & ZARA KIDS

Don't you just love Autumn outfits? So snug and cozy. I asked N to help me test some lighting at the studio a couple weeks ago. She really wanted to help but she also REALLY wanted to be at the children's museum across the street. Her attitude went from don't worry mommy, you got it to just a heads-up, patience is running out to get me oooooout of here! Ha!

Kids Fashion Blog: Raspberry Plum & J. Crew

I love mixing and matching styles, and this outfit is a perfect blend of American and European kids fashion. UK-Based brand Raspberry Plum's top is just beautiful and feels so soft. N rarely comments on the "feel" of her clothing but wore this top the other day and said "I like this top, it feels so soft." I paired it with J. Crew shorts with a pair of leggings underneath.

The color combination is very unique, and the overall outfit was so comfortable. N wore it for hours with no complains whatsoever.

I took these shots at my photography studio where she was invited to help mommy test some new lighting. I don't know how she feels, but I loved having my little helper around.

Preschooler transition/back to school fashion

Transition clothing is always tough to figure out. Especially mid to end September when the days usually start off warm and end much cooler. By the same token, it's also the time to get creative with your clothing choices, and make good use of your existing summer wardrobes.

  • Accessorize printed shorts with tights and oxfords, and add a fun cardigan over a basic tee to round off the look.
  • This look has print, color, texture and is still fun and practical for little girls.
What are your go-to transition pieces for your kids?

Preschooler Transition Clothing

We have definitely started feeling the sweet September chill in the air, and it's time for layering and transition clothing.

I picked up this cute pinafore dress for N. It's quite versatile, and can be worn with or without tights and with boots, oxfords or flats. For chiller days, I would love to style this with a turtle neck and a jacket.

It's very difficult photographing this kid at times so I don't have a picture of the overall look : ) The only downside is she'll need mommy's help to go to the bathroom as the back zipper is hard to reach. Most times, function wins over fashion when it comes to kids clothing. I prefer very comfortable and easy to handle clothing but every once in a while, I make a cute exception.

Toddler Girls Summer Clothing

Hope everyone had a great weekend! This is my last set for summer outfits for the girls. We are getting ready to upgrade our clothes to fall clothing soon. It's exciting and scary at the same time. This was a really long awaited summer because of the terrible Boston winter, and it just flew by. Literally, just like that. Hope this coming fall and winter has something awesome in store for everyone!

Mini Rodini AW15 Favorites: the Peacocks have arrived!

Mini Rodini's peacocks are here, and are just adorable! As you all know, I am a huge fan of quirky prints and bright colors, and I am especially in love with the peacock collection as peacock is the national bird of India, and I pretty much grew up with occasional peacock sightings in the backyard back home.

Check out some of my other Mini Rodini Autumn/Winter 2015 collection favorites!

Gap x ED: Encouraging and empowering girls everywhere

Gap X Ellen DeGeneres collection is out, and I was able to grab a few favorites for N this past week. I love this collection, and it's so in line with my fashion philosophy and life philosophy in general. It's about finding your unique, and taking pride in it. It's all about empowering girls and being bold, fierce, and creative. I have been meaning to write a paragraph or two about why I write this blog and what fashion means to me, no matter what age. This sort of pretty much sums it. I will write more in details later but now back to Gap X ED.

The collection has many great pieces and DIY patch sets to create your own designs. It's fun, creative, and simply inspiring.

As a kids photographer in Boston, I have said it many times before and I am saying it again: I absolutely love photographing kids in their element -- being fun, being silly, and just being themselves.

What better way to describe the collection better than N model some pieces, and being her usual naughty, funny self!

Check out the collection here at Gap.com.

Raspberry Plum's Spring/Summer 2016 Collection: Modern geometric animal illustrations

Raspberry Plum is a London-based sustainable organic brand produced in Europe. Its contemporary SS16 collection features abstract, modern, animal illustrations.

I love the beautiful sorbet colors!

The quirky graphic tees with cats, dogs and mice are so fun!

This collection also has a strong influence taken from sportswear.

The edgy and unique photographs complement the collection so well.

The separates can be mixed and matched in a number of ways to create multiple looks.

Love this combo and the socks are an icing on the cake!

A statement bow dress sums it all up.
